No Limit Holdem is easy to learn and there is one rule you have to remember: No Limit will allow a player to ‘shove’ or bet all of his chips on the pot. This kind of betting is called ‘all in’. The rules of No Limit Holdem are simple and easy to follow.

All players are given two faced down hole cards. Hole cards are individual cards given two players. The objective of the game is to use these cards and combine them with community cards to form a high ranking poker card combination otherwise known as the hand.

After hole cards are dealt, the pre-flop or the first round of betting starts. A burn card is then discarded to ensure there is no cheating and the first three community cards are dealt face up and placed in the table’s center for all players to see. These first three community cards are called the flop.

Once the flop is placed, the second round of betting begins after which another burn card is taken and the fourth community card, called the turn, is dealt.

The turn is followed by a third and last betting round. A third community card is excluded from the game and then the final community card is drawn. This card is called the river.

It is important for dealers to give the cards properly. Hole cards are always dealt face down; community cards face up. A mistake could lead to a misdeal where reshuffling needs to be done and the cards, re-dealed.

Another basic No Limit Holdem rule to also take note of is discarding a burn card after every betting round and before all community cards. This is practiced to prevent cheating or second dealing.

Second dealing usually refers to the act magicians do wherein they get the second card from the deck instead of the one at the topmost.

These are the basics of all the No Limit Holdem rules. If you still don’t understand the game then simply continue on to learn a little more about this fabulous game.
