Texas Hold Em Poker Rules – How To Play Hold Em

Texas Holdem Poker is highly popular. You many find many online versions of this popular type of Poker. So, in case you wish to join the fun; let’s explore the basic rules to play Texas Hold Em Poker.

1) Shuffle:

Texas Hold Em poker makes use of the entire pack of 52 cards; therefore, the entire pack is shuffled by the dealer.

2) The Deal and The Blinds:

When it comes to the casinos, the dealer is a button that moves in a clockwise direction. Two players at the left of the dealer start by putting a particular amount of money in a pot. These amounts are called “blind bets”.

The blind placed by the second player is always double the amount placed by the first player. The first is called the little blind while the second is called the big blind.

Then each player is given two cards, faced down. These cards are given one at a time and are known as pocket cards or hole cards.

3) The Pre-flop:

After the players have got the cards, they can decide whether they wish to call the big blind (the bet placed by the second player), fold- if they find their cards to be bad or raise the bet – if they find their cards to be extremely good.

This round begins with the player who is on the left of those players who placed the blinds. This betting round is known as the pre-flop. It ends by the dealer discarding the uppermost card of the deck in order to prevent cheating. This card is known as the “burn” card.

4) The Flop:

After removing the burn card, the dealer flips three cards, faced up on the table. They are known as community cards. These cards are common meaning anyone can use them for making their “poker hand”.

Now, the second betting round begins with the first player at the left of the dealer (the one who placed little blind). He is “under the gun” this means he can choose to check, raise or fold depending upon his pocket cards.

5) The Turn Card:

The dealer, now, burns one more card while placing the fourth card on the table face up. This card is known as the “Fourth Street”. It is also named as the “Turn Card”. Now, an additional round of betting is started by the player who placed the little blind.

6) The River:

Lastly, the dealer places fifth card, faced up on the table after burning one more topmost card of the deck. This card is called the “The River”. Now, the players can combine any five cards out of the seven to make a five card poker hand.

For example, they can combine any of the five community cards and pocket cards to get a perfect five card poker hand.

The person who makes the best perfect five card poker hand wins. And that the real crux of all the Texas Hold Em Poker Rules
