Want to know the best strategies for Texas Hold Em and also the ones to avoid? Well I’m about to reveal them all for you. All of these strategies work whether you are playing Texas Hold Em online or in real life.
The following strategies for Texas Hold Em work well. These are your bread and butter strategies. If you don’t know them or haven’t yet mastered them, spend your time here.
Good Strategies For Texas Hold Em: LAG – Loose Aggressive
I put loose aggressive first because I really feel it’s the best Texas Hold Em strategy out there. However don’t start with this one if you are a new to Texas Hold Em. You need to build up to this strategy to be able to do it properly. If you aren’t skilled and try this strategy you may lose a lot of money.
Good Strategies For Texas Hold Em: TAG – Tight Aggressive
Arguably the best strategy there is. Most will say LAG is better than TAG but I’ll leave you to decide. But yes, TAG is a truly great strategy. Start with this if you are anywhere from beginner to expert. Practice and master this strategy first and you will make a lot of money.
Good Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Playing From Position
This is one of the most important strategies for Texas Hold Em. When you play from position you stack all the odds in your favour and give yourself the best chance to win. You might survive for a while without doing this one but at the end of the day you’re gonna need it sooner or later.
Good Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Marginal Hands From Position With Aggression
Marginal hands are great for raking in big pots. The trick is you need to have all the ducks in order for it to work properly, and even then you are playing the odds. It won’t work everytime but when it does that will more then make up for the times it bums out.
So-So Strategies For Texas Hold Em
These strategies for Texas Hold Em are alright, but aren’t always the most solid. They do work if you know how to do them properly. But don’t rely on them day in and day out because they often have a very small, but extremely disastrous hole in them.
So-So Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Check Raise
I’ve included it here out of sheer courtesy. If you have read my posts before I often advise against this tactic. I dont like it but there are a lot of professional poker players, WPT champions and the like that do. It does have merit only if you know how to do it properly, when to do it and why you’re doing it. And frankly most average poker players don’t and they’ll probably do better with just betting.
So-So Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Bullying
Bullying can be a good strategy as long as you don’t have a bully-killer at your table. Advanced players know how to deal with this kind of play and you could get squashed. However you can rake in a bit of cash if you get a free run. Small problem is if you go down you’re gonna lose most, if not all, of your winnings. Read a few Texas Hold Em tips on this before you try it.
So-So Strategies For Texas Hold Em: All-In
A little like being a bully but on steroids. Over the top all-ining can be a good strategy for a while until that fateful hand when you lose. And you’ll lose it all. All-ins can be used properly (like as part of a TAG strategy) but abusing this attack is often not the best long term strategy. Players often resort to this when they don’t really know how to play Texas Hold Em Poker as it seems to work.
So-So Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Marginal Hands
Playing straight up marginal hands a standard is good half the time and bad half the time. You’re leaving it up to chance which can sometimes be a good thing, other times a bad thing. This strategy works alright but it’s better if you can tick a few more positive boxes (like position, reputation, raising, target beginners, etc).
You should avoid all of these strategies for Texas Hold Em as they aren’t very good and won’t give you any real return on investment. A few of them might be useful if you are just starting out are are learning all of the Texas Hold Em Poker rules but pretty much steer clear of all of these.
Bad Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Playing Passive
Whether you are playing a tight game or a loose Texas Hold Em Poker game you should steer clear of being too passive (who in the world would play loose passive?). Sure a check or a call here and there is OK but being passive every single hand isn’t going to work. The only time this is acceptable is if you are a brand new beginner and are just trying to learn all the Texas Hold Em rules and hands and don’t want to bet yet.
Bad Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Playing From The Blinds
You gotta watch out when you play from the blinds because you are seriously out of position and are at a disadvantage. If you hit pocket rockets or are doing your job to protect your stack that is fine, but I would steer clear of a strategy that required repeated, constant play from the blinds.
Bad Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Limping In
This goes hand in hand with passive play but is slightly different. When you limp you display as a very weak and timid Texas Hold Em Poker player. This isn’t what you want people thinking about you. Sure you might be doing some fancy-schmancy check raise strategy but I wouldn’t be, I’d be betting like a man.
Bad Strategies For Texas Hold Em: Limping Marginal Hands Out Of Position
This is the kind of stuff you want to be steering well clear of. Something like limping in from the big blind with a marginal hand. You gotta be kidding me? If you do this you are asking for trouble. Skip the hand, spend the time fruitfully (like gathering intel) and play a deal you’re actually likely to win. It’s not even much of a wait if you are playing Texas Hold Em Poker online.
